Main mission features
The CROWN project includes two interconnected components :
Component 1 will finance the adaptability of smallholders with their access to modernized irrigation and agricultural production technologies, better inputs, financing, machinery and equipment capacity and advisory support that saves money, water, reduce production costs, increase productivity, improve crop quality and stimulate agricultural employment opportunities.
It will improve the sustainability of POs (cooperatives, water users associations, marketing associations, women and youth groups, etc.) by providing support in areas such as awareness raising, strengthening governance and management and financial, technical and commercial links with private sector players in the value chain.
Component 2 will address marketing challenges faced by smallholders by strengthening value chain infrastructure through the development and rehabilitation of warehouses, cold stores, packing stations, collection points , points of sale, agricultural tracks and access/service roads, where applicable.
Activities performed
Jade Advisory supports the IFAD in:
- Targeted value chain assessment to identify climate-smart investments and activities for private sector participation and investment.
- Identification of entry points and opportunities for PPP/4Ps, including modern medium- and small-scale irrigation systems, renewable energy, market infrastructure, water efficiency and energy, processing and added value, marketing
- Formulation of recommendations to improve the impact of the project and its attractiveness for private investors.
