Main mission features
The project consists of building a new 2km long bridge between Al-Djorf on the mainland and Ajim in the extreme southwest of the island of Djerba. The island of Djerba is connected to the mainland through two routes: to the south by a 7 kilometer Roman road (between the locality of El Kantara and the peninsula of Zarzis), and to the southwest, by ferries between Ajim and Djorf.
In order to overcome the delays and high costs of ferry operations as well as long queues for travelers, the Tunisian government plans to establish a fixed link between Djerba and the mainland through a new bridge crossing the sea. and connecting Djorf and Ajim.
